What are Audiences?
Audiences are where you define your Ideal Customer Profiles (ICPs) in Cognizo.
An audience represents the specific group of people you want to speak to—such as a role, industry, or buyer type. Content Studio uses audiences to tailor both research and language, ensuring content is written for the right ICP.
Why Audiences Matter
When an audience is selected, Cognizo will:
Focus research on sources and insights relevant to that audience
Adapt tone, terminology, and depth to match their level of expertise
Frame problems and value propositions from the audience’s perspective
This ensures content is ICP-aligned rather than generic.
How Audiences Are Used in Content Studio
Audiences guide two key stages of content creation:
Research: Prioritizes relevant sources and filters out misaligned content
Generation: Adjusts language, framing, and messaging for the selected ICP
Creating an Audience
Step 1: Open Audiences
Navigate to Audiences from the left-hand menu.
Step 2: Create a New Audience
Click Create Audience to start defining a new ICP.
Step 3: Name Your Audience
Use a clear, descriptive name (e.g., Enterprise Marketing Leaders).
Step 4: Define the Audience
Add details such as role, industry, seniority, company size, and region.
The more context you provide, the better Cognizo can tailor research and content.
[Optional] Step 5: Enhance with AI
Select Enhance with AI to automatically refine and expand your audience definition.
When enabled, Cognizo will:
Fill in missing details based on your inputs
Clarify and normalize audience attributes
Improve consistency and specificity for better downstream content generation
You can review and edit the AI-enhanced fields before saving.
Step 6: Save
Save the audience. It will now be available in Content Studio.
Using an Audience
When generating content in Content Studio, select an audience to ensure Cognizo tailors both research and writing to that ICP.
Best Practices
Create separate audiences for meaningfully different ICPs
Use Enhance with AI to quickly enrich sparse audience definitions
Reuse audiences to maintain consistency across content
